Multi-Cultural Vow Renewal Wedding in Welland

July 16, 2016

Julie and Kegan reside in Trinidad and Tobago where they originally tied the knot. They decided to host a vow renewal in Welland, so that the Canadian guests could attend. They wanted docu-style coverage of their ceremony and reception, including as many candids of the guests from all over the globe. This of course, is my specialty! However, a few months later, I received an email from Julie announcing that plans had changed. She and Kegan were expecting a baby!

From 2 to 3!

The plans changed from a vow renewal of two, to a declaration of a family promise with all three! They decided a baby reveal would be appropriate too!

The ceremony was set up in front of Kegan's mom and dad's huge willow tree. It set a romantic garden tone for this casual outdoor wedding. Kegan's mom is a talented gardener, and prepared the property with gorgeous plants for the guests to feast their eyes on.

Vow Renewal + Baby Reveal

The couple walked down the aisle with their little baby boy, Elon. I don't think he made a peep the whole day.

Ceremony

The ceremony began with heartfelt vows that the couple shared. They also made a formal introduction to their baby, Elon. The ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the 3 becoming a family.

Julie emailed me last year from Trinidad and Tobago where she and Kegan live to inquire about her Canadian wedding/vow renewal planned on Kegan’s family property in Welland, Ontario. She and Kegan had wed in Trinidad and now wanted to do the same in Canada where Julie is from.

They wanted a simple, docu-style coverage of their ceremony and reception, including as many candids of the guests from all over the globe. This of course, is my specialty! A few months later, I received an email from Julie announcing that plans had changed. She and Kegan were expecting a baby!

Nothing much really changed for the wedding plans, other than the fact that the couple would have a 1 month old celebrating too! And so, they turned the wedding into a union of all three of them and decided a baby reveal would be appropriate too!

The ceremony was set up in front of Kegan’s mom and dad’s huge willow tree and set the tone for this casual garden wedding.

Kegan’s mom is a talented gardener, and prepared all of the property with luscious plants and blooms for the guests to feast their eyes on.

I love this shot. Such a precious moment between the new mom and dad and their sweet little bundle of joy.

The parents of the bride and groom had a chance to”meet” the baby and present him to the rest of the family and friends and the couple finished the ceremony off with a promise made to Elon.

As guests enjoyed some cocktails, we took some time to photograph the three-some.

The location was absolutely stunning and we were lucky to have such wonderful weather that day!

Having little Elon there just added to the love and happiness that was felt throughout the day.

The bride and groom wanted to make sure their guests were well taken care of…including making sure there was plenty of bug spray to go around!

The tent was set up on the family farm property right next to the house. The couple kept the decor simple with white and purple linens and napkins, driftwood and flowers from the field and garden.

The overall vibe of the day was very relaxed and casual which was prefect for an outdoor summer wedding.

Family members and friends had a chance to speak, and the evening was casual with a buffet meal. In typical Trinidad form, the music started early so that the party could commence!

The bride and groom weren’t the only ones getting attention that day. Friends and family couldn’t get enough of sweet little Elon!

Julie changed into her Chinese dress and so did many other family members! What sexy ladies!

It was such a pleasure capturing your wedding and baby introduction! I wish you all the best with your new life as a family in Trinidad!

xx – april
