Dundurn Castle Engagement Session | Paloma + Joey

April 29, 2021

I had the pleasure of documenting Paloma and Joey's engagement session this past summer at Hamilton's finest; Dundurn Castle! It has been so fun discovering the gems of Hamilton with my couples. Every photographer needs to be inspired by new locations, and after a decade of shooting in Toronto, it was certainly my time.

Many couple's stress about sourcing a location for their photos. While I do admit location is important, equally so is the light, the outfits and of course the dynamic between the subjects. Your photographer should have many suggestions for photo locations irregardless if they have shot there before or not. Sometimes discovering a location for the first time brings about a new perspective that can only occur once. Your photographer should be able to grasp the good and bad spots instantaneously. And you of course, should feel confident in letting her/him do that.

What I loved about photographing Paloma and Joey is their capability to let loose and follow my direction without fear. They whole heartedly jumped into the shoot and had fun! The result is tangible. They are fun, playful and dynamic together and that can clearly be felt in the photos.

I can't wait to finally photograph your wedding you two! Postponed multiple times now and crossing my fingers it will be the last time!

A long engagement can't be that bad, can it?
