High Tea Birthday Decor Inspiration

August 1, 2015

Rebecca Chan is a talented wedding planner and stylist located in Toronto. Her knack for effectively timing events and looking collected and calm is truly rare. It is of course her job description but somehow she finishes the end of her days with a huge smile on her face and not a look of defeat or exhaustion. That is a job not many people can pull off. She has an eye for detail and a modern and classically pretty style. I have worked with her many times over the past few years and on this special occasion she asked me to photograph her 30th Birthday tea party inspiration shoot. I was honoured to be selected.

This pretty-in-pink take on “tea” will surely inspire a party of your own. Delight Floral + Design created floral centre-pieces in beautiful silver pots, sticking to pink and white as the main colours and adding some green for a pop against the pink. Each place setting had mismatched antique teacups,  gold rimmed chargers and a laid-back cotton napkin. The table setting was set with coral taffeta, and embellished with tall glass candlesticks that were topped with flowers instead of candles.  Silver and gold acted as accents and neither over-powered the other. Each guest was gifted with a tin of Rebecca’s favorite tea from Sloane Tea and floral straws and vintage-inspired flutes from Weddingstar added a nice touch of whimsy.

A fun chalk backdrop dotted with flowers and patterned tape was used as a fun back-drop for the sweet table. Being a girl’s tea, Rebecca did not hesitate to hold back on sweets.  The cake and sweets were set atop a white vanity, complimented by antique plates, mirror trays and cake stands.  She created a gold and pink cotton candy tree as a show-stopping piece for the shoot, and ombre cotton candy bags were a hit with everyone. At the end of the tea the girls enjoyed some sweet grapefruit popsicles dotted with gold flakes from Sweet Sammies. Lets not forget, Casey, Rebecca’s little white pooch got to get involved with the girls too.

“For my 30th birthday, I put together a fresh styled shoot full of cute and girly details with a few of my closest girl friends and my puppy Casey. I created this shoot as an inspiration for both brides and bridesmaids looking for ideas for their upcoming wedding or bridal shower. Guests were invited with a beautiful invitation suite made by calligrapher, Olive Branch Co. We included more elegant calligraphy in the signage and name tags for a personal touch. My favorite part of the shoot was getting glammed up and taking some fun shots on the urban streets of Toronto with the balloon adorned with coral and gold tassels.”

Thank you Rebecca and team for a wonderful styled inspiration shoot!
