Over the years, I have shot more and more documentary newborn family sessions. When I first started my wedding business, I  never anticipated all of the return clientele. And then slowly but surely, as clients got married, and started families, I began to document the sweet moments of an ever-evolving family. 

What does a Documentary Newborn Session Look Like?

I highly encourage couple’s to capture their newborn session in their own home where they are comfortable and do not have to think about leaving the comforts of their home. Babies are easiest to maneuver in the first few weeks of birth. I often spend 2-5 hours capturing a newborn session, especially if there are other kids involved. Multiple breaks for feedings without such an upheaval to your newborn are also crucial. Some babies sleep through the whole session, and others have a FOMO that can eventually tire them out. In either case, I play it by ear and ensure that we capture your family essence through candid, real moments and often with play. I will photograph your baby solo too, but our signature style is to keep it loose, and documentary. I let you “be” with your family. (with direction and an eye for good light of course 😉 ) 

Why Make the Investment?

Documenting your baby at his newest is so special to me. I always loved it as a photographer, and now that I am a mother, I feel even more connected to its significance. One of my favourite Instagram accounts, Expectful, will inspire you to document the stage of your baby newborn. Children grow so quickly, and newborns have this special essence that they will never regain again. Being an exhausted new mom can often push our desire for our babies to grow older quickly. What they don’t bargain for is that it happens with a blink of an eye! Suddenly, you long for that helpless, sweet baby looking up into your eyes again. I know for me, documenting my son growing old will be a tradition. And finding someone to document him growing with us will be too!
