Danika and Myron wanted an elegant, minimal and green wedding within the city for 130 guests. They wanted it to be modern but also timeless. Black Creek Pioneer Village's event pavillion has a lot of natural charm and character so it was easy to build up on this look. Of course this fun loving and enthusiastic couple also needed plenty of space to break out their sweet dance moves too! This open air option allowed for them to have everything in one place, and so it was decided.
I have known Danika my whole life. Her mother, Danuta, met my mother in maternity aerobics class when they were both pregnant with myself and Danika's older sister Maia 37 years ago.
Our families are close and I was honoured when Danika asked Olive Studio to photograph, coordinate and create her flowers for her wedding!

Along with Danika and Danuta from Makiya Designs, our team worked to pull together the couple's decor vision. Gorgeous wooden harvest tables lined up the reception floor. We decorated them with loose green garland and geometric vases filled with succulents and twinkle lights. White pillar candles in various sizes dotted along the tables to fill the room with a warm glow. Whenever couple's ask me if they should do real or fake candles, my answer is always real! Nothing beats the flickering warmth for ambiance and of course photography.
WEDDING SIGNAGE
Danika and Myron really wanted to incorporate signage into the decor as well. They handmade copper sign stands to house their gorgeous signs directing guests on how to find the barn. A huge banner hung alongside the stage with one of their favourite quotes. In addition to these signs, the couple added a bit of quirkiness to their decor with huge helium word balloons. They were a fun and effective way to create interest with height.
STRING LIGHTS
Lastly, we opened the barn doors behind the bridal party table on stage. The beautiful treed backdrop looks great in the day, followed by string lights lighting up centre stage by night. This was a simple but beautiful way to bring sparkling light and interest to the couple and bridal party.
PERSONAL TOUCHES
Danika and Myron added some fun personal touches that reflected their adventurous spirits. They incorporated a polaroid guestbook, donut wall, giant Jenga game and big LOVE ball instead of a typical photo-booth.
All in all, this day was just perfect. The sun was hot, the sky blue, and the people were there to party! Danika and Myron are anything but boring. Fitly, they set the tone with "Do you Love Me" from the Contours as their first dance and the rest of the night followed suit.
Congratulations Danika and Myron! You guys hit it out of the park!
