Archeo restaurant, in Toronto's Distillery district is one of my favourite small wedding venues. The first reason is because of its rich exposed brick walls and beautiful lighting. The second is its exposed wooden beams and the third is the access to a great outdoor patio! With all of these advantages, you really cannot go wrong. There is ample parking, shops and activities to keep people busy if they arrive early, and service and food that is top notch! All in all, the result is a WIN!
Natalie and Eric thought the same thing when they fell upon Archeo. They wanted to simplify their day by having the ceremony, photos, and reception all in one place. For them, conversing with their friends and family was key.
WEDDING DECOR
As for their decor desires, Archeo hit all the keys too. It has a rustic but elegant look, with a warmth and coziness of flickering and reflective candle light inside and patio string lights under a starry sky outside. Natalie's favourite detail of the day was
"The flowers - we had known that they would be pretty (I mean, c’mon, they’re FLOWERS) but they were absolutely breathtaking. White peonies, garden roses, hydrangeas in full bloom everywhere. Guests still rave about them."
CAPTURING LOVE
Natalie and Eric had been friends for many years before falling in love. After that, the rest was history. I had the true pleasure of witnessing and documenting the gentle looks of love and admiration they have for one another. You know, the quick but telling looks that two people in love give in a moment one might not notice. The pleasure of my job, is that I get to truly watch people together. I wait, I pretend not to notice and wait some more. I get paid to be a voyeur of love. Most importantly, when I catch that private moment that tells a story, I believe that I have succeeded at my job of capturing love.
FAVOURITE WEDDING MOMENT
When I asked Natalie what her favourite moment of the day was, this is what she had to say:
"So many to choose from but this one stands out: listening to our officiant talk about us holding hands throughout all that life had in store for us as Eric lovingly rubbed my hands and then suddenly noticing - really hearing - the acoustic guitar our good friend was playing in the background and realizing I was so present in the moment. I truly appreciated and LIVED every moment that day."
I am so pleased that you both LIVED in each moment on your wedding day. This is truly the goal, or rather the whole point.
