Pastel Peach First Birthday Party

After two years of lock downs and private living, Aytak expressed that she was ready to celebrate Ela’s 1st birthday with a big hurrah! It seemed fitting to host a feminine pastel peach birthday party at her favourite coffee shop, Synonym in downtown Hamilton.

THE VISION

Olive Studio was commissioned to create a pastel peachy look to set the tone for the event. Firstly, we gathered Aytak’s visions for the space, her “must have’s”, and of course her budget. Next, we created what we call a “Creative Pitch” which has multiple options of decor ideas. These ideas range from signage, to feature walls, guest sign in stations and dessert tables. Aytak then had a chance to give us feedback and say yay or neh to each idea. As a result, a party fit for Ela was created.

Since Synonym is a small cafe, there wasn’t tons of space to go decor heavy. Nor, is it needed as the space is beautifully decorated as is. Aytak did decide on a few features that combined decor with personalized touches. Firstly, she opted for a pastel peach balloon cloud in matte tones. This cloud would anchor the large communal table where the simplistic buttercream cakes would be displayed.

Next, Aytak opted for a DIY photo feature, which doubled as a nursery decor piece. The photo display uniquely showcased Ela’s first year of life in black and white square photos which hung from a beautiful piece of driftwood.

Lastly, a huge helium balloon with eucalyptus strung to the birthday girl’s highchair for her smash the cake moment. A fresh floral crown awaited Ela’s adorable head and a floral arrangement flanked the entrance of the cafe with a polaroid camera and pens for momentos.

All in all, this pastel peach first birthday party was a day to remember. Guests enjoyed great food and drink, while getting a chance to mingle. Ela had her first big party experience where she stuck by mom like glue but enjoyed her cake smash as she should. I think it is safe to say, the day was a huge success!
